Rear window switch on an '02 Runner...

So along with my other post, I swapped out the stock radio with an aftermarket one. The window switch on the bezel never worked since I have had the truck, which is only a few months. Anyway, when I removed the bezel to do the radio swap, I noticed that it was never plugged in to begin with... More importantly, there was no extra harness hanging around to be plugged in. Does this mean that my runner had a bezel added with the switch even though there is no harness there for it? Also, does this mean I can maybe pull the harness and some lead wiring for it from a runner from the junk yard that does have it wired up? It's not a deal breaker for me but I'm sure it would come in handy instead of the key method.

I'm not sure how this will help but my bezel has 2 spots on the back, one for the button to connect to, and one directly above it that is a blank, meaning the harness connects to it but there are no wires or button on the bezel side. You're saying you have the harness but your bezel does not have the button? Might have to try putting power to one of the leads and seeing what it does.

ALL 3rd gen 4Runners have power rear windows (even ones with crank windows). You have the harness plugged in wrong, as the first reply said.

I will check again this weekend since I have to run RCA's and remote wire to the HU for an amp. Like I said, there was no harness hooked up to the switch but I will verify that once again.

If your rear window switch is in the dash bezel, you must have the '99+ model. On those, there is one main connector in the back of the switch assembly that controls the rear window, defogger, ECT. So if the connector is disconnected, then those items aren't working either. There is no separate window switch connector.

The rear defroster does work that I know for a fact. Is there something else I should look at? I took it apart again the other day to look for a loose harness.Everything else on the bezel has a harness except the window switch.

Like I said, there is no "rear switch harness". The harness to all controls in that area (ECT, defroster, rear window) connects to the switch assembly via that white square C23 connector. So either your switch is not working, or something is wrong further downstream in the wiring or the actual window motor. But it can't be an issue of a loose harness behind the bezel, not if your defroster is working.

OK so I finally had a chance to check once again the bezel. The defroster does work as before and the ECT button works as well. The passenger seatbelt light also works. The rear window itself works when I use the key method in the back. Is there a relay or specific fuse I should look for that I am not aware of?
