Tried to crank no start , hot negative terminal

So it ran up until today. no smoke, it feels like the starter engages and stops the engine from turning over, the negative terminal is so hot it burned my thumb when i touched it.

Im hoping its something in the starter itself shorting and not my engine is blown. ideas?

Thats what i was thinking, the only time I've ever had a wire heat up was a dead short, i disconnected everything so it didn't burst into flames, gonna go see if there is a draw when its off. The terminal only got hot when i try and start it and its a few years old reman started so im hoping that's it

actually this time it wasn't the starters fault. If I'm lucky the oil cooler cracked and let coolant into the oil, and oil all over my driveway. There's no oil in the coolant though so it makes me think that's the only place that could happen and not be a cracked block. The starter and or ground to the engine just had oil on them causing the short

it ran fine and likely still does, though i wont be starting it till i fix the issue. The only reason i think it could be the oil cooler is the puddle of oil under my car, that and no oil in the coolant. Just coolant in the oil. Ive done headgaskets before and while not fun Its not outside of my skill level. I just don know how id pull the engine if it came to that since my driveway is sloped a bit.
