Here is my spare starter battery I kept from my 94 ram with the diesel. It’s marked that I bought it January of 2010. It still tests at 88% of its rated 750cca. My MidTronics tester tests it at 660cca. I used it last week to jump start my neighbors truck when his battery smoked to test his Alt output. Yea, a dead battery running at 14.5v and only pushing 1a into the battery. “It’s dead Jim.”

No barnacles on the posts and you can still see the remnants of the terminal grease.

You're right! I'd say my budget is around $200 or so but less is better. I think I'm just going to go with a flooded battery like I currently have in it.

I like the 31 adapter from CBI... any issues with a 31 series battery on an OEM alternator???

A 27f should fit it’s the same height as the 24 just longer.......I think.

Correct, 24Fs are *usually 10" while the 27Fs are 12". Width and height are pretty close, 4th-gens use either depending on the engine.

Interstate Batteries | M-27F

*Here's what I mean by "usually", depending on what line there's a 3/4" difference in length, same group size.
Interstate Batteries | MT-24F
Interstate Batteries | MTP-24F

The MTP is the Plus battery. Higher ratings. I can see it being slightly bigger.

If the group 65 had an F reverse post option I’d buy that. It beats the 27 hands down and what Dodge went to for their group 65 batteries in their diesels because they had higher AH/RC rating.

I do not like buying a battery with less than 150rc.

The MTP-24F looks like a great option. Is anyone using this? Are the terminals reversed?

Thanks!

Just got back from my local Interstate distributor and put the MTP-24F in. Thanks for all the advice and input!

Time for a new battery - recommendations?

I thought there was an issue with my interstate until I found out the Fog Light harness was not assembled properly and was causing a large parasitic drain on the battery. Thanks to Durk I rewired the relay and all is well. I bought mine in June of 2017.

My next battery will be a 27f when this current battery craps out.
