Factory five star tire width question

I’ve got the factory 5 stars 16x7 and i am curious what size tire i can go with a little pounding and trimming without cutting out the wheel well as i have seen some doing.

Plan is 2.5 radflo/Sonoran steel lift kit + 1inch body lift. Hoping 305’s will fit...

Those that have the factory 5 stars with larger Tires please shed some light!

That aside, my original inquiry was to see if anyone has tried 305’s on stock 16x7’s successfully without rubbing after performing the standard massaging to fit larger tires. Most people with larger than 285’s have gone aftermarket on wheels.

You need to look at the tire manufacturers rim size recommendations for the tire you want, because one companies 305 isn’t the same as another company’s 305.

Your original question was "i am curious what size tire i can go with a little pounding and trimming without cutting out the wheel well as i have seen some doing." You then mentioned you hoped 305's would fit and you have 5 star rims. If you want to know the answer to "if anyone has tried 305’s on stock 16x7’s successfully without rubbing after performing the standard massaging to fit larger tires" try phrasing that as a question. We can't read your mind.

a 305 mm cross section is just about 12". That's a bit too wide for a 7" wheel, at least by the way I was taught. The rule of thumb ( was, at least) tread width of 2"-4" wider than the wheel. At 5" wider than the wheel, I think you'll get really ballooned out sidewalls.
