Wiring Question:

I see that a lot of people are running a breaker between the alternator and the battery. What is the purpose of this mod?

I am glad to see this thread has come to good use. Keeps useless threads from being made that ask newb questions lol.

Update on my 4runner: Sold my 4runner to focus on my first gen tacoma.

I wanted to invest it all in freedom pew pews to add to the collection and hunting items

Everything I wanted to do to my 4runner I want to do to my tacoma. So that only left me one choice.

Bought the 4runner for $2600. Redid the valve cover gaskets with oem components. All oem maintenance parts. Replaced all the suspension components and brakes. About 1300 bucks in put me at 3900. Sold it for 2 grand more.

Hard to pass up a good offer.

Now's a shitty time for guns anyways. The pandemic market is royally screwed up; 2020 has been NON STOP panic buying. It's ironically why I'm here and heavily into cars; guns are my passion and I need something else to keep me busy
I just got my S12K build back right at beginning of pandemic and had plans to finally do my PM md.90, but if you can't even find ammo (which is also 3-5x the price) then what's the point? Hell, I haven't even finished putting in a Cajun kit for my Rami and just been using my secondary as my carry for the past 10 months

Well I already had a good stock. In April I made sure to add to it. Mainly to train with. I am a target shooting enthusiast you can say. Been doing it for years for fun and just as another skill to add to my resume lol.

Same. I'm into rwd drive cars, drifting , time attack. Basically any hobby I have is expensive . I am about to put a lift in my garage for my next build. My tacoma is my current project. About to get ready to build a front and rear coastal off-road bumper + swing out!

What is a dead OEM steering rack worth? I know some companies charge for cores so I feel like it has to be worth a couple bucks...

Pricing on a Salvage title 4Runner for parts

I was wondering what you guys thought a fair price was for a 236k 4Runner for parts would be? The engine has a oil light on and looks sludged but I need a frame and possibly a rear axle housing from it. He is wanting $1200 bucks is that fair?

I sold my "parts" 200K mile+ 1997 4Runner without transmission, transfer case driveshafts and front differential for $1,000. The engine still ran in it (before I removed transmission). The frame was a rusted mess and worthless but the body and interior were in very good condition. I would say $1,200 is probably on the high side of fair, but if you need a frame and it's in good condition I say go for it.

1999....Eibachs did not give me enough lift. Should I bump up a notch on the 5100s or just add a spacer? I have the 4R 5100s with the three notches.

Has anyone on these forums ran the LC Engineering Valve Train upgrade for the 3.4L?

High Performance Pro Valve Train Kit 5VZ

any real benefits? Does this allow the motor to safely hit higher RPMs?

I have a '99 Limited. Planning on putting ~2020 4Runner TRD Offroad wheels on. Will I need to buy new lug nuts? (Hub-centric, lug-centric? I'm not well-versed)

Is there any other reason 2020ish wheels shouldn't fit? I saw slight differences of center bore between new and old, but I don't know if that matters.

Toyota 4Runner Wheel Specs: Lug Nut Torque, Hub Bore, Bolt Pattern & More | Sparky Express – Sparky Express Roadside Assistance

This chart, unless it is overly-simplified, makes me think I can use my (acorn style?) lug nuts putting 2020 TRD Offroad wheels on my 1999 Limited, and that everything else is the same. Anyone know definitively?

I'm not familiar with the lugs on newer models, but the OEM 3rd gens use mag style lugs. A quick search suggests that current models still use mag style lugs. If that is the case, acorn style lugs are not a substitution I would be comfortable making.
