Front lbj's failing can lead to significant failure if not worse. There are control arms in the rear.

burnt oil on valve cover
I'm doing a valve check on my 3rz and there is burnt oil around the top of cylinder #4 on the valve cover. How can I diagnose this? any help troubleshooting this is appreciated!

Some one with a 3rz might have a better idea.( @JZiggy ) but my guess wood be valve not closing fully. also a valve guide leaking. A valve adjustment should help.

Does anyone know of the quality of this lift kit? I am not looking to heavily off-road.

Could not get the link to post but it is the Rough Country 3" Toyota Suspension Lift Kit with N3 Shocks - 77131

Rough country has come a long ways. The value for money is good. I prefer the bilstein 5100 with appropriate height, weight springs which would be little more expensive. lot of pickup guys run rough country fit bigger tires.

3" from which version (year) of 3rd gen? There was nearly 2" difference from the lowest to the highest of these. WAY easier to get 3" of lift on a 2001 than a 1999. Whole lot less stress/wear on parts to lift an '01 3" than a '99 too.

There are a lot of threads on 3inch lift. 2inch lift will be cheaper and you wont have to dIf drop. If you are dead set on 3 inch lifts. Here are two options
