It looks like I missed a spot by the hose stop, now that you mention it. Already put 50 miles on it since the change with a new hose and no leaks. I’ve only done a few radiator changes on different vehicles and I’ve never seen build up like that before.

I’m glad it had the red coolant in there before and always will.

Honestly I thought the same thing. I didn’t get a look inside, but it felt smooth and no noticeable pits or holes in the tube.

I can’t thank you enough. You saved me over a $100 and biking across town to the dealership to pick up that thermostat housing. I was also going to buy a new thermostat if I did have to replace it.

I had a 88 mustang with a 4 banger and the radiator leaked so bad I would put a gallon of straight tap water in it every time before driving to work. The water had so much lime where I lived in Wisconsin, you could see it caking up in the radiator. I was a broke teenager and didn’t want to put a penny into that car for many other reasons.

I’d put new spring clamps on when you get a chance. They do get weak over time.

I had so much corrosion and pitting on the upper hose outlet I had to replace it. Thank god I had two engines to use parts off of.

I actually had the bottom of one rust away on the bottom radiator hose. Excellent idea to replace the clamps.
