Suspension Sagging with the added Armor - What Rate Spring?
I've got 6 month old Bilstein adjustable shocks and Toyota Highlander springs, for a 1" lift.
I thought I just wanted a mild lift and slightly bigger tires. Turns out I soon after planned a lot more since, including full armor - front and rear bumper, full skid plates, sliders. I added Daystar/Energy levelers to raise the front another inch and rear 1.5 inches.
Didn't help much, my truck is sagging more than I'd like.
I'm thinking going an inch taller spring and with a more aggressive rating.
i figured someones gone through this already! I would like to stay at 2" - 2.5" - def no more than 3"

Which 5100's do you have? Tacoma or Tundra? There are a lot of spring options out there just trying to match it up.

cant help, but gonna follow along. I put on the 99 talls and KYB about 40k ago, The springs were toyota....not moog or other . I am back to almost stock height now. I plan to refresh and get to about 2 to 2.5 inch and adding a bumper and winch in front and swing out in the back so IM gonna need to handle the extra weight. Currently my KYB's in the back are leaking.
So will be interesting on what you come up with

I know the Tundra springs are progressive and raise it 2.5" - but I want to be sure they are built to support the added weight. I like how OME springs are explained - example,
use this spring for this much added weight. I just don't want to jump into buying something that may not be the best choice given others experience

lets see what you find out. several people have told me that the tundra progressive springs will do the job of handling extra weight of bumper, winch etc. and some have said that the progressives are better being "progressive", I had progressives on motorcycles and they were a great improvement...but not this kind of application.
I know when I checked with sonoran steel many months back and told them my plans of added weight with winch and bumpers they came back with Tundra Coils. Now their website lets you plug in all kind of info and they will come back with recommendations.

@ UnderFire
I've got the tacoma, bolted right on and worked with highlander springs with no issues
What would it take to get tundra Springs on? I assume I'd have to replace the shocks
Or go with OME higher rated 4runner springs
I just want something that does the job well

Having no experience with Tacoma 5100's I'd say OME is the safe bet if you're willing to drop the coin. I run Frankenstein setups but on the Tundra springs and I'm not sure how different the bottom perch is.
For the rear your options can be tricky. 890's will take a little weight at 2.5"ish, but are known to sag with time. 891's can be stiffer than a lot of people like and sit 3" with weight, and most of the other options will be higher than 3" on most rigs. If you can stand a little rake, the toytec superflex is a great coil, typically 3.5" unloaded so maybe right around 3" with your little extra weight.

Piecing together various parts from different applications, both aftermarket and stock. I typically don't recommend it because it can be hard to explain and follow.
I've ended up with parts from 4 or 5 different applications before on one rig. That's why I call it a Frankenstein setup lol.

It looks like the OME 891/883 are what I'm looking for
I see mixed messages with installing those with Bilstien 5100's.
But those appear to be the springs to do the job

I think.....yep.
The stock fronts are in the 480-500 range.
881/882 are 500
883 is 580.
Stock rears are 180-ish.
890 are 190
891 are 210
902 are 220
Billsteins Should be fine on low perch.
You might just get the Eibec front setup with the 600# coils.
Spring rate isn’t everything. A taller spring of the same rate will have you riding higher. A shorter spring of a higher rate can also have you riding higher.

I do not. They say they are progressive. They feel firmer than factory coils.
Quite a few folks seem to like them with bumper, winch, and skids. They probably run them on the second notch. I’ve got mine on the first notch, but don’t have any added weight.
The ride is smooth but firms up on bigger bumps.
The coils are $200 each, so a bit spendy to test, but resale would probably be easy enough.

I am looking at the OME 891 rear and 883 front, using the Bilstein 5100's that I have on currently
These are rated for the weight im adding and give the 2.5" lift I am looking for
