ARB 3423040 vs. 3423020

So I'm getting an ARB but I'm finding conflicting descriptions and pics for the same bumper only ending with a 40 vs. a 20.

The 20 I'm seeing has the recessed cutouts for both turn and fog and the 40 has textured paint and no cut outs?

Anyone have positive proof of the differences? Anyone have the 20 with the cutouts?

I want cutouts.

Are they both for the 1st Gen Tacoma? Curious to know the difference as well.

ARB bumper 3423040 vs 3423020 (1ST GEN) | Tacoma World

I could not get a direct answer but have not called ARB. So some of this may not be accurate. I plan on getting an ARB here pretty soon myself...so I need to figure it out too. The link above will show the ARB site and both having the fogs. and only difference is texture paint or powder coat.
But I see lots of pictures of one without. Even a youtube of Timmy doing a ARB install on a 3rd gen and it does not have the fogs
In other threads I have read that you can only use ARB's fogs if you the bumper set for the recessed.. Ive also been told the recess is a cheap plastic insert. And its about 200 more , plus the lights
The ARB site will only list Warn winches....thats because thats what they sell...but other threads havve shown it will take a smitty built.

Some of this is also discussed in the OFF-Road section of this forum.

It would take me a while to chase down all the threads and posts that I have read and/or been part of related to this

4wp list both part numbers with different pics. I'll try to call them monday to find out. I'm putting a smitty built in mine I know.

I'm going to get the same winch! Did you get a deal on yours anywhere? I'm hoping my 5100/880's will be enough for the extra weight.

Just FYI, the OME 880 coils are for stock front weight. With ARB bumper and winch you will definitely get more sag than you would like.

I have Tundra billies with OME 883. Meant for the added weight. I have a savage front bumper with the same smitty winch. After my suspension settled, I feel it sags a little more than I like and dips more driving over speed bumps. I do have full skids as well, so that may be a factor. Im looking into other options for myself currently.

Below is a pic of my stance, I am reversed on an incline. Tundra billies with 883 in front, 891 in back with 1 inch body lift.

I am just on the 2nd notch so maybe bringing it up would help with the added weight?

No real deal, got it on amazon paid just under 500. I am in a unique area...when places advertise free shipping it usually does not include Alaska (me)..several places had the same price but the shipping was an issue. Amazon still shipped it free. I see the price is up about 35. Forget what smitty I started looking at...steel cable one..big sale in winter...was gonna be about 250....thats what got me looking at smittys. Then went to the X20 10k syntheitc Original plan was to mount this spring hidden behind bumper ( threads avail on that) but laid the winch still in box on core support and sunk too much, even with my toyota talls and kyb's on , but 40k old. run 265/75/16

Its the same problem with getting my bumper and suspension kit ( and for my sons taco) shipping is supper high and if a dealer in Alaska they are hours from me and jack up prices. That is why my bumper and work is waiting till fall....as I have to run to the lower 48 this fall....gonna have everything shipped to one of my sons in Oregon...load it and drive back up....thats not the only reason I am goining but you learn to make trips like that worthwhile. Since im making the trip, just the bumper and suspension for me I will save over 600 in shipping. Thats pays my fuel food and stuff alone for the trip, plus all the rest of the stuff I will be hauling back

Im sure it's been done, but highly not recommended, as all you're doing to compensate for the added weight is pre-loading the coils.

With my setup, having 883 coils I have to leave the billies at the, "0" perch at all times.

If you do any kind of wheeling, i would definitely look into a setup to help with the added weight. If it's just for street use, I guess you can get away with it, but will really notice a difference in ride quality.

Okay the only difference is one is satin paint and the other is textured. The 4wheelparts web designer put the wrong picture on their site. No fog cut outs on either.

well, thanks for calling to clear it up. I had been told that unofficially but at least you found out the truth....thanks for your efforts...not only for myself but others now and in the future.
I did hope that the recessed was available for our rigs and I could put in fogs...oh well
thanks again for your efforts

No problem. I got really excited thinking ARB had one for use with the fog lights. I did though find out my 880's are not going to be enough with the added winch. ARB suggested I upgrade to 2881's in the front to handle the weight. So I'll save a bit on adding fog lights but add way more with changing them out and then I'll have to get a re-alignment.
