Rear window only moves an inch

I have searched the forum, but I was not able to find an issue similar to the one I am having.

When I push the "down" button (inside the car) for the rear window, or use the key in the hatch, the rear window moves down about an inch and then stops. There are not any noises or anything when it stops. When I hit the "up" button, the window immediately goes back up and is closed. I have tried to help pull the window down when I am opening it, but it has not gone any further than the original inch.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

i would take the rear cover off the trunk and take a look at the tracks. dont try to push it down with force, you can break something or push it off its gears/tracks.

just something you should know. learn my mistake by pushing down my civic window when it was stuck. i bent the tracks that guide the window.

I figured it out... One of the bolts from the wiper motor had come loose and the motor was hanging down and it blocked the track for the window. I screwed it back in and the rear window was able to move along the track again. Free fix!

Cool thanks for following up when fixed

Thanks for letting us know what it was. Saves us all a lot of hassle if and when it happens to us.

I am experiencing a similar problem on my 99 4Runner, however, tightening the bolts isn't doing the trick. It seems the motor itself is bent backward and I can't push it forward enough to get it out of the way of the bottom of the window. I don't want to pull the whole door before checking options.

Any suggestions appreciated.
