Check how far your axle is off the hard bump stops on the frame. I'm going to assume you are already riding on the in-spring cone bump stops. Do you have any mods done to the factory suspension? You may want to consider airbags for this kind of situation.
400lbs cantilevered out like that will cause more sag on the rear than 400lb tongue weight of a trailer...

It’s all factory suspension and it’s very close to the cone bumps with the bike on there. Airbags is an option, but can’t spend the money on it right now. I haven’t check the hard bumps on the frame, but I usually thought when it’s that high the rear wheel(s) is tucked in the wheel well

I highly recommend airbags whenever you can. They are not that expensive, I think I bought mine for $70 on Amazon. Quick pumps from a bike pump and I was set. My trunk is loaded when I go on my hunting trips. Plus a rear bumper and tire carrier, it sagged more than I liked and bottomed out going over bumps.

Whatever the case may be, it won't damage your 4Runner... it will just not be very comfortable. The cone bumps are basically progressive springs to keep you from regularly hitting the hard bump stops. They do make things feel odd when you are engaging them though.
I'd second the airbag suggestion...

Alternatively you could always sell me that bike and get yourself a 250. That beauty is a 650R is it not? I had a 650L for a while and yours is much nicer.

Thanks! Didn’t think I could find them this cheap. One of the reviews on amazon I found had the same exact mx hauler and is working out well for him. Did you have to remove the springs or can you jam them in there deflated?

Ha! Maybe a 250 two stroke for the tight trails. I won’t be selling this bike anytime soon. Yup, it’s a 2000 XR650R fully street legal. I use to own a 650L for a while as well and was a great bike, but I wanted something faster and lighter. I searched for years trying to find a R that was in good shape and street legal in Oregon. The only thing I don’t like is kick starting this pig when I dump it on a hill climb.

I really should put a big ole Boognish sticker that would fill up my rear window.

yep..air bags.
thre are several writeups...you can install with springs in but the inner cone has to be cut... can get a sawzall into it to do it. I have done it both ways. Cutting the cones in place and getting out the pieces was a pain in the arse ( short while ago for a friend)
My rig I was switching springs anyway....to 99 talls...so did it all then with parts out. With floor jacks, tools and no rust it is little effort to pull springs, my friends is a coastal rust bucket thats why we went the route of not pulling springs

I haven’t been off-road with it yet, but it seems like these type of haulers keep the bike from moving around as much. Only thing is they’re not cheap, but I think it’s worth the extra$ for less of a chance of falling off. Also I like how it doesn’t compress the forks, so you can really get it tight.
