Interesting theory. Still doesn't explain how toyota motors with toyota red coolant are getting head gasket leaks.

Toyota red is just a low/no silicates OAT coolant. It’s corrosion inhibitors last longer, but you still need to maintain your cooling system at least every 5 years or so.

Head gaskets die from corrosion, heat cycling, and being sandwiched between dissimilar metals.
That, and if you overheat your engine it’s really hard on them.

OAT coolants aren’t miracle potions. OEM’s just like them better in aluminum and plastic systems.

Exactly, they do prolong the life of gaskets though

Like any coolant of any color it attempts to prolong the life of the engine components by attempting to keep corrosion at bay. It just does it in a different method than green coolant.

I’ve never heard of that “it plugs small holes” stuff you were saying.

My opinion is that you downgraded. Jeeps break down far more.

I replaced the wires since they were original but not the plugs since I did them about 3k miles ago. I also replaced my PCV valve and it ran a little better but still CEL. I noticed I was ever so slowly losing coolant and my radiator hose was not holding pressure so I realized it was my head gasket. It was a very minor leak so I got some K Seal head gasket fix and poured it in the radiator and within a day my CEL was gone, truck ran great and radiator held pressure. This could have easily costed me hundreds if I threw parts at it.
Slightly old bump, but its most likely not your head gasket. Your heads have a crack in them. Usually near cylinder 3. Very common issue. Is it still holding up though?

Good point, never heard of that problem. They're still holding up good though.
