Update: Diagnosed Blown head gasket. Decided to pull the trigger on a Yotashop motor. Also purchased for install:

Gasket set
Radiator
6x injectors
Engine Install Kit
Knock sensor wire

Total price was a whopping $6700. It's ridiculous, but cheaper than a new car and I had the money saved. I'd also like to add that my wife is the best....

Additionally FYI, Yotashop said the s/c is good to go as long as it is using the Toyota recommended 6psi pulley.

What is a reasonable price range for old engine removal, new engine install?

I ended up contacting Yota1. Seem like super good dudes. I would trust them to rebuild a motor based off our dialogue. They did not have any cores available, so I ended up goin with Yotashop.

Install ended up costing $2600 with them supplying very few parts and doing a couple of extra things for me. If anyone is ever in need of good mechanics in the Savannah Ga area, I have several to refer you to.

I have zero regrets about the route I took. Yotashop and Superchargers online have been great so far. I’ll try to remember to give an update on the motor a year or two down the line.

It’s been 3 years since I had the Yota Shop motor installed. I ended up getting an Gen 2 supercharger and the same time to replace the original, which cost about $2k. Almost half the price of the whole kit since it was already set up for an s/c. Only about about 15k miles on it. Zero issues. I’m very happy I went with Yota Shop. I feel like I’m driving around a brand new ‘99.

It was a lot of dough, but I haven’t had a car payment in almost 10 years and it’s insured through Hagerty for $20k.
