Sad Day T4R fam

Piece of shit hit me running a stop sign then took off. Spun me around 360. Almost flipped but got control of it. Got the license plate. But PD says it comes back to a release of liability from 2018. So let say we won't get the guy.

What you guys think salvageable?

Damage I can see front bumper fender. Rear tire is pushed in. 4wD system is activated in side. Limped it home but rear brake was smoking a little. Rear bumper damaged.

Do I need a whole new rear end or can that side be salvageable? Come on fam make me feel better

This was a mint 3rd gen. 2nd owner 106k .

It really sucks but you are okay so thats good. These are the kind of dingbats that I am constantly looking out for, makes for a less enjoyable driving experience. Take it to a reputable body shop and get an estimate have a feeling the insurance company would total it out but hope for the best and see if they come through. Even if they total it you can always buy it back and fix it.

Im glad your ok, im sorry the pos got away...karma will get him at some point.
From those two pictures it actually really does not look so bad, very repairable. Insurance company will jack you around..so be ready for that, might be as bad as the accident and the a-hole that got away

That sucks, dang such low miles and you had a rare white 3rd gen also. Let us know what happens and let us know how much the insurance company ends up giving you if they total it. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry about that man, glad you're okay. I hate to see such a clean low milage 4Runner get damaged like that. It does look salvageable. I'm sure insurance would total it given the age, and the stupid KBB value that in my opinion is too low, but I would buy it back, and take it to a body shop, and get a quote. If it were my 4Runner, I would spend as much as it would take to repair it, but it depends on how much you want to save it, and if it's worth it to you or not. Good luck man.

if you need a new axel and entire diff and you didnt have a locker to begin with....depending how you use it...put in a factory elocker while your at it,,,if easy to find in your area....just a thought

Score one for 4Runners! It took care of you, period.

Now there is a damaged vehicle somewhere around, someone is hiding it now.
It's turn will come up sooner or later.

Nice T4R, I'd fix it and not let the insurance call it totaled, stick to what You want not their convenience. And don't forget even if they total it, most states let you buy your own totaled vehicle for less than 15% of market value, which is what they used to determine it hit 75% or more to be called totaled.

Luck.

The important thins is your OK. I would buy it back from the insurance company and rebuild it if that's an option. I used to rebuild totaled sports cars and compared to a couple of them the damage is minor. Good Luck.

If you have full coverage insurance then that is the way to go. I would rebuild it myself. I've got a rear differential housing you could have (yours is probably bent), but no axles. I've also got the wide fender flare for the front bumper, and extra set of running boards. Where are you located?
