Installed a Unity Spotlight (cop style on the A-pillar)

What’s up T4R, been a long long time! I haven’t done anything new on my truck in years (but still use it for camping and overlanding a lot, and the occasional trail run here and there). Anyways, I installed a Unity cop style spotlight on the A-pillar last month and figured I’d show it off on here. It was a pretty easy install, took about 2 hours, and pretty straightforward. Just one hot wire from the light which I tapped into the ACC. fuse in the fuse box under the dash. I gotta say, it’s really nice to have an aim-able spotlight on the truck - especially when I’m looking for a spot to camp after dark!

BTW, the cracks in the windshield have been there for probably 15 years, so it did not happen while I was drilling through the A-pillar.

P.S. That’s my wife’s 2017 Limited 4x4 in the 2nd pic (which is exactly 20 years younger than my truck). Kinda cool that they’re both basically the same color too.

Nice to see someone else has one of these, in my opinion it is by far the most useful auxiliary light you can possibly add. Try and pick up a used LED version on eBay, that’s what I did and it’s a huge improvement over the halogen, super bright, I think I paid $100 for it

Super cool, what model or what yr/police model did you get? I'm looking for one for my rig.

Great to see this (3.5 yr old post). I had a spot on a retired LEO-spec sedan I owned in the late 80's. Great for seeing exactly where you want to look and people driving badly got the F out of your way! We were young....

I may do this as well.

Edit (again) - there are a lot of retired Crown Vic Police Interceptor take offs on eBay. Our A-pillars are pretty narrow. Looks like Unity still sells all the mounting parts. I've got a wire-hider adjacent to the driver side pillar making it even tighter. Has anyone else done this recently and would there be a shaft-length issue if a Crown Vic Unity spot is used?
