Exhaust leak at flange

Hey guys been lurking more than posting. Recently developed a leak at my flange, secondary cat, flange towards front. I've been trying to come up.with a way to just eliminate that secondary cat completely..

Any test pie? Straight pipe options? 3rd gen is 2 1/4 pipe right? Any other ideas besides replacement bolt in?

2001 sr5

Thanks

You live in NY (or at least your post tag says that) so you're under strict smog rules like out here in CA. If you try an eliminate the cat, I'm pretty sure you won't pass. If you leave the leak, also pretty sure you won't pass since the sniffer will detect the excess oxygen in the exhaust pipe.

Magnaflow sells 50-state legal catalytic converters starting at $200 if it's the body of the cat that's failing (repairing the casing is not smog approved). If it's just the exhaust pipe, weld it shut or use JB weld to clog up the crack or hole.

Try some gaskets. Leaks do set Cat effiency codes, will for sure set codes if you remove it.
