Welp, after some "minor" problems on install(please ask if you would like me to elaborate), I got the Dobinson's setup complete!

Night and day difference in ride quality. Just the thing I was looking for in on/off road performance. TBH, haven't had much offroad testing, but will ASAP.

After hearing about EMU and Billstein/EMU setups, I had to take what I saw as a gamble on the Dobinson's. Being less popular and therefore less feedback avaialble, I considered it a risk. But after 400miles of driving, initial impression is Dobinsons 2.0" Lift kit.

The 4Runner feels far tighter and not sloppy at all. Feels like front/back and left/right move together and it's not the old "clunky" feel I had from the 99 tall springs and brand new 4600 Billies.

No front compression during braking, little to no body roll in turns, feels really nice. I finished last minute on Monday and hit the road right after alignment. Nearly 300 mile drive to my folks place for the Holiday. Noticeably smoother on the freeway. First thing Tuesday morning, took a short drive to the back country(albeit, no real offroading) and found a couple small hills I could attempt to get some flex on. Pictures below, DEF taking it out to the mountains next weekend!

I went with the 2.5" setup in the front(my thoughts were to level out the stock rake) and C59-131 2" in the rear. I'll be upgrading the front bumper/winch before doing the rear, so I also hoped the additional "Medium" duty 2.5" springs in the front would better accept the weight and worst case scenario, go back to some sort of OEM rake. Currently it measures jut 1/8" taller in the front. But you can't tell just by looking. I'm also SUPER pleased with the negation of the "Toyota Lean". In the front, left to right it sits level. In the rear, the driver side sits just 1/4" lower than the passenger side with full gas tank. Gotta say, really pleased with the look.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'll be giving another review over the next 500-1k miles to include some actual offroading.

Hi all, long time listener and first time caller. Can you please elaborate, curious to know as the info could be helpful.

Secondly, why did you have to rotate slightly for fitment? Were they assembled or installed wrong? Is there a certain orientation the springs have to sit/mount?

I know you said you went with 2.5in coils in the front, so did you use 134s or 238s?

Lastly, sweet rig!

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the info. Any pics of the rig to serve as a reference for us on the fence?

so some of the threads above say that the boxes do not specify left or right, some threads say they do. Also the web site lists a trim packer for makig the rig level yet dont see that listed in threads above.

Just curious how they are holding up. Trying to make up my mind for my new rig. Will have an ARB and a winch in front. Looking at doing only a 2 inch lift as from what Ive read with 2 inch I dont need a panhard correcction or a diff drop. True ?

I will have to double check, but 99% sure it's 238s up front. They weren’t listed on their website, I stumbled upon them on another site(3rd party seller), then I called Dobinson's for the order.

I had to rotate the top hats even though I paid for assembly. At that point I should have just saved the money and assembled myself. Both driver and passenger were off by the same amount. Maybe a 1/4" to 3/8" rotated along the radius. As far as I could tell, there's no difference in the driver/passenger parts, just the orientation of the top hats during assembly.

I'm nearly 2500 miles on them in a month, lol. Putting in work on and off road. I'm really happy with the product. One of my biggest concerns was how they felt/handled on washboards. Night and day difference! Even at higher tire psi. I am curious though, how much more flex/travel/articulation I may get out of longer sway bar end links and/or panhard bar drop bracket. I've read, up to another 1" of travel, but I haven't been convinced yet either way.

As far as needing the strut packer or whatever it's called to fix the "Toyota lean", I opted not to and it's flush even in front. My first measurement was nearly 1/2" lower in the rear driver side compared to the passenger rear, but that could've been on a full tank gas. As far as I'm concerned it sits pretty damn level, or negligible to the eye. I'll post some pics on/offroad, but I don't like how some appear to show up and others don't on this app.

Feel free to ask any more questions you may have. I wish Dobinson's would credit me something on future purposes for their mistake on assembly, but I was told that it's "normal" to have to make some adjustments. They should state that online and/or upon ordering.

Very nice rig @cheezPoof_4x . Love those wheels too, something about the old school design. What size tires? Ever considered spacers spacers (1.25s/+)?

I really do like the wheels! I know the 5 spoke are desirable and I too wanted them when shopping for the vehicle, but damn these have REALLY grown on me. I'm not in a big rush to upgrade, mostly because of cash that can be averted to some other things higher on my list.

I have actually thought about wheel spacers to give that wider stance(I like the look), but I have a couple concerns:

1) wheel rub on the stock fender flares
2) I'm not sure if the wider stance is better or worse for offroad traversing.
3) quality of the spacers themselves for durability and any effect it may have on ride/tire wear.

I'd consider it more if I could fine a quality set that is less 0.5-1". Dobinsons 2.0" Lift kit

@da_dre UPDATE...to confirm the front coils are the 238. They are labeled on the box(in Sharpie) "238/222" with "26391" underneath it.

Thanks man.. The 222 is the 4runner specific shock #.

What are your center hub to bottom fender measurements on all for corners?

from the pics, it seems the front shocks are 4600, not 5100 (I think the 5100 shocks do not have the hard plastic cover). Could that be the reason for the harsh ride?

I replaced my old coils (Performance Products 2" lift coils and Bilstien 4600 shocks) because the ride had deteriorated to the point my truck drove like an empty 1ton P/U. They were over 10years and 100,000 miles old. These felt really good when newer, nice and firm but not harsh.
So I went with Dobinson C59-131 and C59-276 coils (10% firmer than stock) and Bilstein 5100 shocks.
My truck drives the same as with my old set up plus the truck seems to roll more on turns. The ride is very stiff, not firm. I can feel a wet toothpick on the road and every rut or bump. I was hoping they would be a little softer with new shocks and 'light' duty coil springs. Not happy with them.
Pictures cuz every one wants pictures.

Do you have measurements from hub center to fender flare bottom measurement? Thanks.

Frt~23.5" frt hub center to bottom of fender. Rear ~25" hub center to bottom of fender. They are the silver Bilsteins just have black covers.
I have about 700-800 miles on my set up now.
rides much smoother but still kinda harsh, truck get tossed around going through pot holes and similar rood obstacles. I know it going to feel worse offroading. I think the Bilstein 5100 are too stiff for these springs. I like the springs. If we get a second covid check I'll probably replace the Bilsteins with Dobinsons shocks and see how those ride.

@cheezPoof_4x Nice, we've got the exact same rig, right down to the wheels. Now I know how I'd be sitting and looking with this setup - thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
