I have the 137 in the rear with 5100's. I'm very happy with the results. I had FJ cruiser coils in the rear and I liked them too, but wanted a little more rake, and a longer coil.

I think anyone looking for a 2-2.5" lift will love the 137s. Also ordering from Exit Offroad was a great experience too. Fast shipping and Mike is knowledgable.

I originally was looking for a quick, inexpensive way to eliminate the rear sag. I got FJ Coils used for a good deal, and at the time Wheelers had the set of bilstein 5100 shocks/struts on sale, so I went that route.

I set the front on the second perch and it made it too level for me. So during my search for a 2" lift Dobinson's seemed like the best option.

Reason for 2 inch lift? Stay as close to possible to factory geometry, and because the 3rd gen specific 5100 shocks state 0-2" lift. So in an effort to follow their specs I didnt want to go any higher.

I'm so satisfied with these Dibonson's and my experience with exitoffroad, that I am going with a dobinson lift on my wife's 5th gen.

They options are awesome and you can really spec it out how you want. I'm not sure if I'll go with the 5100 on her rig, or the dobinsons, but it will get Dobinson coils for sure. I thought I read somewhere that people preferred the bilstein over the dobinsons, but I didnt know that prior to my setup.

Hope that helps.

Does the 137V have a LH side and RH side spring? Anyone know the free lengths of both side springs?

I attempted to assemble the front Dobs twin tube/yellow shocks with Dobs 134s springs and Dobs tophats with AutoZone rent a tools spring compressors and I just couldn't do it. I dropped them off at a local shop and they installed them but the top hat isn't even/level. Is this supoosed to be normal and will correct itself after installed and loaded.. See pics.

UPDATE per Mike at Exit:Yes, the coil puts pressure on the top mount when it's not mounted in the car, but as soon as it's bolted in and weight is put on the coil, it will settle down properly and straighten up.

These are rental spring compressors I used. After seen the coils compressed, there's no way the retaining hooks/clamps would have come out after compressing them, they were already difficult to put in unsprung. In addition, it made it difficult for the shock cover to move and slide, it got pinched and jammed up. I just saw a video of a guy using 3 and had to crowbar the compressor clamps off. Which ones did you guys use for the Dobs springs?

Once you put the vehicle on all 4 tires the coil spring presses even harder against the top hat/isolator. What does the spring at the bottom of the strut look like?

Bottom looks fine to me. I'm guessing the dobinson top hat insulator isn't contoured to account for the spring end so that's just how the top is going to be

long term results ?
I still have not decided what lift i will use, but someone on another forum said they were dissapointed how fast the dobinsons with billies in the rear began to sag in the 3rd gen, and lost over an inch of lift in under a year ?

facebook, 3rd gen mafia was the post
