16" Tacoma Rims Straight Swap?

My 01 4Runner has had these 16" rims from factory but 20 years of salt and snow has done them in.
Unfortunately Im getting alot of conflicting information from older posts on which rim swaps will work.
I know the 17" 5-spoke Tacoma rims will straight swap but I want to keep my tires as they have ~11K on them.

So now Im trying to figure out if I'm going to need spaces to run these 16" Tacoma rims.
If so, what should I be looking for as Im a total novice when it comes to them.
No plans to do a Tundra brake conversion if that makes a differences as well.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Backspacing is different. If you have wider than a 265 tire, then you might have some rubbing issues. I ran those snowflake rims for a while without issue, but it does bring the track width in by a couple inches.

Yeah Im running a set of 265/70R16, so it shouldnt be too much of a problem. Im assuming if I went larger, Id need a lift?

I ran 265/75/16 without a lift and it would rub on the frame at full lock. After lift, it didn't rub any more. I think if you went to a 285 tire, you'd have to get spacers. I finally went back to the original 5-stars for a better track width.

Thanks for the info!

This thing is my daily, so Im on pavement 90% of the time and doing the swap out of vanity along with usually finding a clean-ish set of rims for $200-300 locally.

Would it be better to look into other options? Someone locally has a set of the Tacoma 17" 5-stars with Toyo's on them for around $400 but Im still kinda shooting in the dark here.

From what I understand, all the bolt patterns are the same, just the backspacing for newer generations is different. If the overall tire size fits in the wheel well, they should work just fine.

They work great and do clear the TBU if you ever do it down the road.

Awesome, Ill definitely go that direction once she's retired from daily duty.
Did you need spacers before or after the conversion?
