Thank you for the kind words, I'm looking forward to getting some content together of it in action over the cooler months. It's a million degrees outside right now and my wife hates sleeping in a tent without AC, lol.
My early wheeling days were done with an 88 4Runner, 22RE 5-speed (still have it). The modern overlander would never be able to tolerate ~20s 0-60 times. Found an old quote on YotaTech:

"what ever a semi truck is add about 1 sec and that is my 0-60"

Yes the narrow frame of the early 4Runner is an asset that is easily overlooked but super valuable once you're in the woods.

Very cool. I currently don't see the need to do this with the reliability and reliability of the 5vz-fe but it's definitely cool to have options. I've followed and very much been interested in the Keisler swapped RX-8's as a fun auto-x/track car. Much respect to what he does and the quality looks great. The price to performance and replaceability of the chassis/drivetrain makes the rx-8 option very appealing.

Really impressive. I love the thought of separating the body and frame and executing a full on build like this. Would love to see more pics and some driving video/impressions.

This is an amazing build. When boundries are pushed in the right direction with good execution it makes for an interesting project worth admiring. Your explaination and motivation makes sense to my why questions. Would love to see a video posted of the motor running, maybe a short walk through.

This is a neat swap. It would definitely be nice to double the power and double the amount of gear ratios in the trans. I'm sure it would be even more fun with the Edelbrock supercharger that was released a little bit ago.

I finally got around to making an IG for this thing yesterday, it's @LFX_T4R . There will be lots of content videos on there. I'll start putting more content out again since it's spring and running again-- I ran into some cooling issues ~3hrs into a muddy trail ride and had to reengineer some things. Now it's got a custom aluminum rad with a brushless fan on it-- thing sounds like a jet engine. Somewhere north of 4500CFMs.

Who knows what'll happen to it. It'll be long travel next winter-- this winter I made lots of quality of life improvements and had to reengineer the cooling system.

That's really the whole reason for being on this swap, per-se. Long-term cost benefit is just really appealing.

@LFX_T4R I'm currently working on swapping an LFX into my 1977 Celica.

Still have a ways to go though...

1977 Celica Liftback Build

Too bad the LFX engine harness is still on backorder from GM. I'm not sure how to modify it myself for standalone applications.

Sorry for reviving the dead, but I'm seriously considering the LFX for a pair of 4WS JHF portal cars for me and the wife. Problem is, I want to run TH400s behind the LFXs and I can't seem to find anyone making adapters.

Does anyone know of a source?

Also, does anyone have an idea of the actual height of the engine? I've seen 26-29". My other option is a pair of LSX 5.3s with car intakes and F-body oil pans that measure out to 27" tall. I'd like to stay that small if possible, but can't verify the LFX engine height dimension.
