ECM reset
Can anyone direct me to a thread with instructions on how to reset the ECM? I've searched, but can't find anything. Recently did major maintenance on my '97 3rd gen V6 and I'm still having sluggish acceleration. Thinking an ECM reset might need to be done now.
Thanks!

Remove negative battery terminal for 10 minutes or so.
Removing the EFI fuse might do it as well but I'm not sure.

The quick way to do it is to remove the negative terminal and touch it to the positive terminal. It discharges all the capacitors that you would otherwise have to wait 10 mins for them to do it on their own.

Please tell me you mean to remove BOTH terminals and touch them together.

I'm not sure if it would make a difference.

Try it and let us know how it works out.
Take a video while you're at it please.
Not saying it won't, but I don't have the balls to try to ground a positive terminal out.

easiest was is to pull the EFI fuse under the hood for 60 seconds. that resets the ecu. (resets CEL, fuel trims)
if you touch both battery cables together you loose clock, radio memory which can be a pain to reset. so that way it not that quick by having to reset all that.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll start with the EFI fuse first and see if that works.

The ground would be lost when the negative cable was removed.

The EFI fuse kills some of the ECU power, notably the part that backs up the memory of learned values and CEL codes. Other functions of the ECU remain powered up without the ECU fuse in place, but not enough to make your truck run.

i pulled the negative battery terminal for 12hrs...yet the vsc, stability, brake icon didnt erase.
note i had the 2 rear wheel speed sensor not detected error prior to the disconnecting the battery for 12hrs.
i thought it would erase all cels, til the car is driven again, before the ecm will detect the wheel speed sensor error again.
how do i reset the ecm completely? the method i saw on youtube didnt work either

As far as I know, you must manually scan and clear stored engine codes.
You can do that with any cheap OBD reader.

This is the 3rd gen forum... you'll want to try the 4th gen. We don't have stability control and a number of other systems you have.
