Roof rack owners, any regrets?

Good afternoon everyone! About at the point where I'll be adding a roof rack. I'm torn between the Antero and the Matterhorn. At half the price the Antero is a heavy favorite, but I can't shake the idea that if I'm going to get a roof rack, I should get a full.

Does anyone with a half or 3/4 rack regret it? Or, vice versa, anyone with a full think they got too much rack?

I like my Antero but I am not a heavy roof rack user. It’s nice when I need it. I don’t regret the lack of wind noise — I always assumed having a rack above the front would cause some.

I have the Matterhorn and no regrets. As for length it probably depends what you want to do with it. Since this isn't my daily I have a roof top tent permanently mounted up there giving me little room for anything else even with the full size. Without a tent though the Antero would probably suffice.

Mine is a daily but its an 8 minute commute to work, don't even get above 35mph. All I am currently wanting to use it for is storage, but I'd love to have a tent or an awning. I haven't seen any Antero racks with an awning on them though, but I'm sure where there's a will there's way.

That's awesome to hear. My rig is loud enough on the highway, don't like the idea of having more wind noise added. Do you have the black by chance?

Custom build a full length. No regrets with the length. It's tube and has a bit of wind noise but not too bad as a 60 mile freeway daily driver.

Figure out what you want to do with it and that will tell you the length. I needed a stable base to carry a canoe without tying to the front & rear bumper. Also wanted a place to carry hi-lift, axe, & shovel plus any camping gear for family of 5.

Looked into 1/2 racks because of the price, but they didn't seem to fit what I needed.

I like that. What I did for same reason, did a 5/8 length, lightweight canoes still flop in the breeze some @70, Yak's n extra's solid.

RE: Sherpa Antero

Has anyone used a piece of plywood on a Sherpa rack? It there enough of a side rail lip for 5/8"? If I'm going to do a half rack I want a solid platform for a lounge chair or whatever.
