I think it depends on torso/leg ratio.
I'm 6' and have a sunroof and I have a good few inches above my head still.
I think it's the perfect size for me.

Yes I am 6 3 and around 300 pounds. My legs are shorter and my back longer so the Japanese rides always went the roomier but I fit into almost all Toyotas except the yaris.

The dang sunroof...only thing I really don't like about my 2000' .....no effective way to remove one either.

6'1 with a sunroof. When I wear a hat, my head brushes the headliner but it's not so bad. Reclining the seat back helps a bit.

I am 6'1 N 225ish. I find it really comfortable. Compared to my 94 single cab Chevy. The 4runner is pure luxury, comparatively speaking...

Hey OP, the 99+ center console upgrade will bring the armrest up an inch or two. My 96 original was noticeably shorter before swapping.
