What Are These Things on my '02 4Runner Driver's Seat?

Getting ready to replace the front seats in my 2002 4Runner. Upon removing them, I notice this black button and this black pouch. My replacement front seat doesn't have either. I could remove and replace but I really
don't know if that is necessary or what the heck they do?

Could be a T'aint massager more than likely a seat heater.

A seat heater would be between the fabric and the foam not underneath the foam and support

Well what does it do? Is it making a pump sound? Push the button, does it deflate. Could be an air bladder/bolster.

Yeah that looks like an airbag.

I remember a friend of mine had an older Ford F-150 mid, early 90's that had air seat cushions like that. It was really cool at the time to see that.

Lumbar support switch. The switch was previously mounted on the side of the seat back, Toyota relocated it in the '01 "updates".

Toyota doesn't use switches like that. Pure aftermarket.

That's a strange place for an air blatter. - there's a lot of room under the seat - would have to put a lot of air in there for it to do anything.
Look like leather was added to the SR5 seats - is there a pump anywhere activated by that switch?

I had that on mine too when I recovered the driver seat, so I don't actually think it is aftermarket. The wires for it ran under the carpet and looked factory so I think it was supposed to be some sort of firmness adjustment for the seat

That pouch is clearly aftermarket, its attached with zip ties. Sit in the seat and pump it up and see if you even feel anything.

Looks simular to this kit. does it also have a back pad?
