Aftermarket keyless entry fobs

Anyone have any success with aftermarket key fobs for the RS3000 series keyless entry? I ordered some on eBay from keylessking but I can't get them to program. I can clear all fobs and get my original beat up one to reprogram but following the same procedure with the new ones does nothing. Any thoughts?

I replaced mine with after market fobs from "KeylessOption" from Amazon. I was able to clear my old remotes and program my new one after I recovered my stolen 97 4runner. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I know I accessed the module under the front drivers seat and pushed the green button to program.

This is what I did but the new remotes won't program. I have one of the original fobs and can clear all and get that one to reprogram. No dice on the replacements though. I've reached out to their customer support so well see what they say. I wonder if the grey version of the remotes would work.

Is it possible that the grey version of the remote would work on my 97?

Are the locks going fully up and down? If the actuators are tired and they are not going fully up and down during the programming sequence, it will fail. You'll need to "help" them by manually pulling them up and pushing them down as you cycle the lock/unlock button.
I had the same issue and this technique worked like a champ. Alternately, you can use a second key to cycle the locks as you push the buttons.

It's a pain in the ass to get the rhythm but you'll get it.

I have a '98, and I can verify that buying this grey one and then following instructions like the ones that @spartacus posted worked for me.

There is zero response after hitting the button on the new remote. Nothing moves, no lights flash, no beeps or noises.

Push the green button on the box under the seat.
Security light comes on.
Hit button on remote.
Nothing.

I have an original fob that I'm able to program just fine.

You guys are talking about two different programming methods. The method datsuyama is talking about applies to the newer models (99-02, IIRC) and the method texadelphia is trying applied to the older models.

I have a '98, which is also the older programming method. You're doing it right, tex, it just sounds like the remote you have doesn't interface with the system. I had the same problem with another key fob. Once I got the one that I linked in my other post it worked right away.

Hey, no worries. At least you're trying! Everything usually gets clarified in the end.

I thought my '98 Limited would fall into this category as it has an alarm, but its not the RS3000 factory one with the module under the seat. Its something else. I think the module is behind the kick panel on the left side of the drivers footwell. There's a tiny 'on off' toggle switch down there and there's a red security LED light on the row of switches just left of the steering wheel. Any ideas? I want one of those nice, streamlined key fobs too. I hate my current one. I wonder if the programming would be the same or if that fob wouldn't even work at all.

edit - reason I ask is some people have mentioned having similar setups to mine on the YT video's for programming these fobs

thanks

Update...the $60 fobs from Amazon arrived yesterday. Packaging and everything was exactly the same as the $40 fobs I got from eBay and they also don't work. I guess my next step is to try a grey set and see if those work.
