Coolant Overflow Relocation Options

In the final stretch of fitting my winch and currently trying to hook up my AGM batt, only thing is the damn coolant overflow bottle is in the way. I picked up a 34/78 battery so I can use the side terminals to run a direct line to my winch, however the bottle ironically sits directly in front of the 2nd positive terminal, with only about an inch or so to spare. I was wondering if there's a trick I'm unaware of in regards to moving the OEM bottle to a new position (perhaps by making a new bracket of sorts), or if it would be recommended to just snag a skinny aftermarket tank? If the latter I saw some people on yota-tech suggest Moroso or Mr. Gasket, however I'm not sure which ones will fit so any advice would be appreciated; I rarely trust """universal""" mounts as they never seem to work as well as promised, if they work at all. This seems to be a common problem for folks running dual batts, so I have a feeling theres a simple solution I just haven't come across yet
Also been toying with the idea of welding up my own since they're so simple, would be nice to hear if anyone else has done so as well

i've seen a lot of room for the bottle open up if you delete the OEM airbox and resonator and drop in a K&N or similar. i know that doesn't solve the bracket problem, but it could be a start. i thought i saw someone's rig with dual batts up front a couple weeks ago but i'm forgetting whose it was. @habanero didn't you double your battery fun and move your overflow? your buildup thread on YT is just epic long, but i think i finally found one shot of your dual batts.

So next I stuck the original coolant overflow tank in the same place. There was just enough room above the power steering reservoir to make it work. I've been running it like this for almost 5 years now.

If you've got a single battery you may be able to come up with something that will fit in the space between the battery, fan shroud, and alternator...perhaps something around the charcoal canister even. If automatic what about the space in the corner next to the master cylinder, where my clutch fluid reservoir sits? IIRC that's an emptyish area for auto trans, if it doesn't sit too high...

I went to autozone, oem bottle in hand, and picked up one slightly smaller. I don't remember what it is supposed to be for though. I mounted it exactly where @habenero 's is, side of the airbox. I made a little bracket out of 1/8" steel that the bottle slides right on to. Been about 3 years with no problems.

I almost relocated the OEM one to that spot, but all the clearances were just a little tight for my liking. Obviously @habanero hasn't had an issue with it though.

It's true, I had to be pretty precise to clear the p/s reservoir enough to account both reservoir and engine movement.

Also keep in mind where in the air box you add hardware, if you attach a bracket or overflow to it, that they are in front of and don't interfere with the air filter.

I was thinking of moving it right here but it's a little too tight for me, would rather keep it fairly tucked away. I've been eyeing one of those cylinder types since they take up no space at all, but how it'll mount is still a gamble

Heh, it is kind of a little bit long, isn't it? More than a decade of documenting itchy fingers and a curious mind. If it helps any there's a table of contents with links (that I need to update for the latest stuff) on post 2.

I did use 2 bolts to mount the reservoir. It was a little hard to get them started from inside the bottle because the holes are pretty tight. I wanted the silicone to have less chance to vibrate loose and leak. So far it's worked great.

I wanted to bolt the original bracket to the air box to slide the reservoir on but there simply wasn't enough room, the bottle is bolted in with the smooth side towards the box so the curve on the, urm, curvy side, accommodates the p/s reservoir.

If the bike bottle had been bigger (was using the larger typical bottle) that would have been awesome because goofy stuff cracks me up- and I'm a cyclist so it'd be like a touch of home.

the water bottle mod did make me laugh, but what nearly made me spit toothpaste all over was the 'porcupine' clamping on your visors. dunno why but that really got me.

i'm not planning on doing this to my baby (the 4R), but the truck might just get the second battery up front so i have half a chance of taking off the topper and sleeping platform now and then. thanks for the tips on some options.

Well, I tried to use a 1L bottle from Moroso and attach it to where the old bottle sat. Fit great, looked great, was easy as hell to install... except for the part is was way too small - apparently when Toyota says their bottle are 1L capacity, they're talking about the fill line and really mean the bottle is just under 2L to the brim, and needless to say the Moroso bottle is 1L to the brim Time for a bigger one I guess
