Insane freight charges from Toyota
This has probably been whined about and explained before, but I was playing around with a shopping cart at a couple of Toyota dealers, one across town from me, and one out of state (Camelback). They both tacked on a $300 'freight charge' with the radiator -or- about $10 freight for the rest of the stuff minus the radiator (local dealer - didn't check the AZ folks). There is a 'Free Shipping up to $200' discount code but that's still over $100 to ship a radiator 10 blocks. What's the deal with this? I'm sure I could walk in and buy the radiator but I bet it would be a hell of a lot more than $117.....

That's bonkers. I'd try calling their customer support and see if they can do something about it.

Sounds like something you should ask that website instead of this one
partsouq is a good site to snag OEM products, if I'm not mistaken they work very closely with one of Toyota's depots in the UAE. Ordered my IAC from them and not only was it nearly half the cost as anybody in the US, the shipping was free AND took 2-3 days from Dubai to Seattle. Was VERY impressed

I bought my radiator from Camelback in May. Along with the radiator I got replacement hoses, a new radiator cap and a new thermostat. There was no freight charge, just a regular shipping charge of $20.73. I just checked right now, and if I just put the radiator in my cart and check out they are only charging $18.95 for shipping. I am also in the bay area, so I'm not sure why they would be charging you so much more.
Even overnight shipping is only $128.73.

OK, now that is strange. What kind of 'SUCKER SHOPPER ALERT' cookie got planted in my browser?....will look into it more.

You should get a phone call/note to them because if their 'system' is trying to charge crazy shipping chrges, they'll start to lose business. Unless, of course, they want to lose business...you know...for 'business reasons'.

That's crazy. I'll put a second vote for camel back. I've always had good luck with them.

Also see if there is a "pickup" option for shipping. Just so happens when I get Honda parts that my closest dealer as very good (though not the lowest) online prices and a "pickup" option for shipping. Fast and easy.
Haven't tried the same with my local Toyota dealers though...

Yea this is an issue for that website not this one to resolve. Everyone has different shipping cost and it is up to you the consumer to pay shipping or go some where there is no shipping. I personally shop around all the time for the best deal and watch all charges before I purchase.

My local dealer has let me order through them online and select pickup as an option and when I do that there has been no shipping charge since it just gets delivered with their normal parts shipment. It may not be the fastest, and you may pay more for the parts than you can find them for online, but depending on the cost difference it may come out about even to pay a bit more for the part and not pay for the shipping. Also for something like a radiator where shipping damage is a concern pickup from the dealer may be a better way to go anyway. When I bought my radiator the package was mangled in shipping. I needed to pressure test the radiator before I was comfortable installing it. If I was doing it again I would buy local and pickup so I could make sure everything was good before taking it home.

Try and see if your local Toyota dealer has their parts database available online. I was surprised to learn that Roseville Toyota near Sacramento has gone to online sales so I purchase and pick up over the counter the next day. Super fast & cheap since the online listings are cheaper than if I buy over the counter.

Yeah man, I just posted this anomaly because of the very oddity of it. I don't pay stupid high shipping and I hope no one else has!
The issue was resolved today. All these dealer sites are tied together under the Big T umbrella somehow. I use their sites to get part numbers and prices and sometimes parts if they are priced right and I may have to exchange them in person.

you guys are so lucky. I have one dealer about 12 miles from me and the next is over 400 miles away. the "local" knows this and charges accordingly .
McGoeorge, Camelback and others charge a lot to ship to alaska...so does everyone regardless of product. Unless its amazon or costco. Aftermarket like autozone, napa, etc, are about 20-30% higher than the lower 48 stores.
All the places that say "free shipping" when you read the small print.....does not include Alaska.. ( and Hawaii).
This is one aspect I miss about living in the lower 48.
