2002 rear shafts in 1996 elocker axle?

I managed to pick up a 1996 elocker to swap into my 2002. Unfortunately the unit came with no axle shafts. I am hoping to use mine from the 2002 as I was planning to do my rear seals and bearing at the same time.

I have searched and searched but seeing as there are different part numbers of the bearing can anyone confirm my 2002 shafts would work? I am also assuming seeing as the axle is 1996 I should be using the older style bearing part number?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Going to have to get on this quick as with temps dropping my rear seal leak has really kicked up.

I didn't think there was any difference between Axle shafts or bearings, there are different types of bearings, and updated bearings but for the same application I thought, someone else should confirm this to be sure. I would be using parts for your 2002 axles and 2002 axle housing, but if you can get the 96 VIN you could ask the parts guy nicely to see if there is any differences. Where you able to pick up the front 4.30 diff, I have one in a 97 with the motor out of it.

2002 axle shafts will work with a 1996 housing. Axle shafts changed mid 2000 so when you go to do the axle bearing it will need to be for the 2002 axles. Rear axle seals, snap rings, retainers, and abs tone wheel are all the same. I would recommend replacing the inner axle seals and inner axle retainers.

Awesome to know the 2002 shafts will work...

I have some older bearings kicking around from my previous truck that are the pre 2000. Is there is true difference in the two bearings?

Bearings I have on hand are 9036340020 and dust seals 90313-48001.

If I am reading this correct I can use the 2002 shaft with the 1996 housing however I cannot use the bearings and dust seals I have on hand correct?

Bearings are different. I’m unsure about the dust seal being different, but I would assume they are.
