I've been making decent progress over the past few weeks. Aside for the passenger Lower Control Arm, I have removed everything from the transfer case back (I will get a picture soon).
The LCA is stuck because the cam alignment tabs are stuck/dry rotted into the bushings. I'll need to hit it with my purse more, or sawzall them out and replace with the 333 fab Alignment Cam Eliminator Plates. Between that and removing the old bushings (might just melt those out lol), those are the only old items left to delete.
I will need to run new brake line to the driver rear wheel. That line was rusted where it meets the rubber hose.
We had to bust out the torch to remove the front coilovers, the threads were too rotted and broke the other end of the bolt lose inside so it just turned with no way of holding it.
Anyway, now it is just a TON of cleaning i.e. laying on my back on gravel while grease, rust, and cleaner soak me. I have wire wheeled/air needled the entire axle, frame, and crossmembers clear of any large rust flakes. Now, I am degreasing everything and scrubbing it all with a scouring pad - things actually are looking really nice and its keeping me motivated.
Here are a few pictures... more will be coming soon - thanks for tuning in.
I posted my donor truck on Marketplace for $1200. Some dude showed up and wanted it to try and body swap a 1995 4runner... good luck...? I'm sure it will end up as a part-out.
I broke the ABS Sensor trying to remove it. Will probly just secure it back on with the 10mm bolt and send. Also, upon removing the axle shafts and inspecting the e-brake assembly, it's toast. I'm removing them and RTV'ing the opening to keep out debris. The cable will probly just be zip-tied across the top of the frame crossmembers until I think of a different solution.
The EimKieth Lower Link Mount Reinforcements are welded on and clearly add plenty of beef. My welds were uuuuugly, but I needed the practice - they'll hold just fine.
