LED replacement bulbs for map lights?

I've been trying to search for LED replacement bulbs for map lights but haven't seen any recent posts regarding this. According to the Sylvania replacement bulb guide (| SYLVANIA Automotive) my 99 4runner would need size 57 bulbs. Did a search online and didn't find any bulbs confirming proper fitment.

Does anyone know of any that would fit my 99 4runner?

Here are a couple of useful links for interior lights.

LED Dash lights FAQs

WRITE UP: climate control and dash bulbs 2000 limited

The appropriate bulb is a BA9. This is what I went with when I did mine. I tried the cool white first, but then went with the warm white because I found I preferred a color that was close to an incandescent and not as blue leaning as the cool white was.

Those are what I used on my 2000 for the dome lights, but that isn't the right type for the map lights. I'm not sure which setup the OP's 99 has for map lights.

Has anybody else observed that some of the replacement LED's are almost "too bright"?

Definitely. When I did the replacement I bought the cool white LEDs and hated the color/ brightness. I immediately reordered the warm whites and redid the swap.

Here is what I recommend. Keep one of them stock, or switch to an WARM LED. Like 2000-3500k. Then change the other one to a RED LED. Use the red at night while driving (if you need a light of course). The red is good enough at night to see something while not blinding you.

This is my current setup.

OP, hit me up on PM. I have some spare LED's you could have if you wanted. I only needed like 1-2 out of the pack.

If your original map lights are the bayonet style, the SBL BA9s LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Tower are the one's you need.
It helps if you have child sized hands to fit them. I don't.
