Cargo cover repair

Bought a rear cargo cover off of eBay and the end trim cap was broken in transit. Can I unscrew that cap and take it off to glue it back together or will taking that cap off release the spring that retracts the cover?

I swapped end caps from square to round. Springs are clock springs wound so many turns. Remove screws pull end out just enough to rotate and count number of turns of tension as you rotate till no tension is present. Reverse for assembly, Clockwise and counterclockwise winding comes into play also.

Thanks. Didn't want any surprises when/if I took that off. Glad I didn't just pop it off without asking.

Check YouTube. The two together form a very strong bond ideal for repairing broken plastic.

IIRC 4-5 turns you can feel spring tension build as you wind it.
