That sucks but like others have said, the runner is replaceable, but you are not.To get the most out of it I would try to keep it then part out what's salvageable. Transfer all you can from this one to your new one if you want the same gen and sub gen, then sell what's left. There's no easy way to go about it but it is what it is. Insurance is only going to give you the KBB value on it or however much you ensured it for, depending on your insurance. It's probably not going to be what it's worth to you or even what you could have sold it for pre-accident, but that's life sometimes.

First, Im glad your ok
Having just gone through this myself ( 10/22/20) I can say that in my experience I did not get the money back from mods and less than 1 week earlier I had just finished with my lift. Have a new ARB bumper and winch sitting in garage as that was next project.
Like you, I have absolutely no place to store this, esp this time of year, or i would like to buy it back and part it out, esp if I could find another 3rd gen....next to impossible up here.
As far as value, well....we are just setteling on that this week, yes its been almost a month....since like I said , 3rd gens are vary hard to find here, they had no comparables, so they had to go blue book. At first they went low,,,and I resisted....thus this time line. Hate to say, but the other day I settled at 6300.
That actually pisses me off.

If you cant buy it back, one thing you can do is let fellow 4runner owners know what is on the truck and what wrecking yard has it. That is what I did and through face book have several people waiting for the insurance to clear it, so when the wrecking yard can start selling parts, and they ( other 4run enthusiasts) can get to it quick.

Unfortunately that's just the name of the game with vehicle parts and mods. If you're expecting to be compensated by your insurance provider, know that chances are if they weren't already aware about them, they probably won't care; typically they avoid paying for what they don't have to. Just gotta start inspecting stuff to see what survived and what didn't. What all did you have into it? S/c?
If you hauled it home, might as well part out what you don't need and make as much money as you can. Even if you have some busted parts, you can ask remanufacturers if they're interested if they're not too horrible (I know places like CVJ are always looking for our old, unwanted CV axles)
Insurance will not pay you for the modifications, just the stock vehicle...unless you have the mods specifically itemized and paid for.

So IMO, pull all the mods.

(I used to do auto liability for a major insurer)

Glad you are good. Dont let them take the truck if possible get it towed to your home. The insurance will pay what a truck with similar upgrades sells in the Denver area if you had full coverage or collusion insurance that will be a plus. The market is pretty good for used 3rd gens out here.. lastly don't settle make an effort to get as much as you can. Receipts are good but just writing down what you've spent in upgrades will be beneficial. Good luck.
