Warning: Jiggle Valve Content
This is mainly for future readers facing cooling issues. To most people, this is old news.
So, my jiggle valve was at 1 O'Clock. After rotating to 6 O'Clock, I dropped UG-reported coolant temps by 13 frikken degrees! Now I run at 195 FULLY stressed and I was at 208.6 before (I could get up to 210/212 at a red light from time to time).
So, the coolest I could get it to run previously is now the hottest I can get it to run.
Before: Lowest - 196.2 Coasting down the Sierra on Interstate 80 at 70 MPH with the heater at full blast, front and rear, and OD OFF (good for an instant 4 degree temp drop, BTW).
Now: Hottest - 195.0 Climbing California Street from light to light (super steep) after 20 mins of City stop-n-go with no heater on.
Highway cruising is currently around 186-188. The TStat is an 82c OEM (179.6 degrees).
Granted, the weather is in the low 60s but I was running at 208 @65 MPH with heater/OD helpers on my way to a friend's house to do the work yesterday.
Just a huge relief that I can go wheeling now and be in a safer temp range and not stressing on the temps. Do not get an UltraGauge or ScanGauge if you prefer blissful ignorance, but keep in mind that my factory 'temp gauge' never budged from slightly below horizontal throughout this odyssey.
Disclaimer: Maybe I burped out an air pocket by accident draining and filling the radiator, but honestly I was so happy to find the valve orientation that I forgot to burp the cooling system at all.
Also popped in a new TPS sensor. Hopefully I won't see a return of the P0120 CEL Code.
