Sport Hood repaint

Hi all,
I’ve always liked the look of the sport hood, and a Millenium silver one just popped up at the -. Only issue is my ‘99 is white, not silver. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in white, and I’m wondering if it’s reasonable to buy it and have it painted.

Thanks

Seems like more of a personal choice. I'm sure it would look good, but its purely cosmetic, so it just depends on whether you think you would enjoy it enough to justify the expense and cost.

Hood scoopers were never offered in white, so your only option is to buy another color and repaint it. $300-$400 is what I would expect to pay here. I'm not sure about Cali prices, though.
Make sure it's an original Toyota hood as that base trim never got the scooped hood; someone added it. Look for the VIN or Toyota stamp badge towards the front where the hood latch is.

And yeah, next time might consider leaving off the location. Would bet someone else is going to pick it up.

Does not matter if he posted the location, by the time he typed the post it was gone. You have to grab it first and ask questions later

Thanks for the responses. I guess this was more of a question about painting the hood, and I was wondering if they ever actually did come in white. Luckily those yards seem to get them relatively frequently. Thanks endlessblockades for the diversion. Lol. I might still call to see what they’d charge for it...

As stated, they never came in white, so we Natural White owners have to shell out the dough for repaint. The side benefit is that since you know you have to paint it anyway, you might score one at the junkyard with bad paint, which others leave behind due to the cost of repainting. That's how I managed to get mine.

$500 later, I love the look:

Sport Hood repaint

I did end up calling, the guy instantly said $450 after I asked, without knowing model, year or anything specific. How much did you pay for the paint job @ ? Can you see any differences? I know aftermarket paint jobs can be hairy…

Oh and it was gone when I called, so now I know.

I would plan to spend about $500 for a good paint job on the hood. In a perfect world, they'd blend the paint to the fenders, but with white they can often colormatch well enough to not to touch the fenders.
