New calipers - Piston boots not seated

Hey guys,

Rookie "mechanic" here attempting his first brake job...

Both of the calipers I received from NAPA had a boot that needs to be reseated. Would you guys take these calipers back to NAPA or go through the trouble of reseating the boot?

Is this a common thing? If I ordered from a different company would this still be likely to happen?

Yes return the one/s not seated correctly, check the new ones before leaving the store.

No new or rebuilt caliper should be that way, you could probably just reseat the boot but why take the chance of the boot being defective.

Ugh.
Napa quality work strikes again...

I recently had some seized piston issues that I couldn't solve, so I just went ahead and replaced the calipers (13WL)
and one of them looked like they let their 5 year old kid assemble it. I'm glad I had a factory reseal kit to fix it - but given
the fiddly nature of the snap rings, I should have just exchanged it until they handed me an acceptable one.

first yes take back
2nd.... I would take a napa rebuild over all others in the past....but maybe to be cost effective and comparable they have lowered thier standards and suppliers, I have done 4 TBU's on 2 of my own and 2 on friends, in all i used NAPA calipers, 3 used napa rotors, one used drilled rotors, but I have not seen your issue with napa. And thats just 4runners, I have used napa calipers on many other rigs, other than my 4runner....recently a dodge 3500 diesel at work
