Ballpark idea for selling price ....
Hi all,
I've been giving some thought to maybe selling my '97 SR5 4WD and I'd like some idea of what to ask for it.
I bought it new in May of 1997 here in Mesa AZ and it has never seen road salt or snow. It has just under 110K miles and everything still works as far as I know except for a broken cup holder and the fog lights.
No accidents and non-smoker as well. It still has the original windshield (with a few nicks and dings), brake pads are original (I am very light on the brakes!) and the tires are newer Michelin from Costco. I did add a B&M transmission oil cooler, and replaced the radiator and lower ball joints about 1 1/2 years ago.
The stereo is the so-called upgraded one with a CD player and cassette but I don't know if the cassette player works. The power antenna works just fine.
Again, I am just wanting some reasonable figures for if and when I do decide to sell.
Thanks...
Ted

Given the low miles, the fact that it's a single-owner rig and that you've got the e-locker, I'd look into selling it on bringatrailer.com. 3rd Gens are popular on the site and so long as the seller is attentive, up front and answers questions during the course of the auction some 3rd Gens have been going for silly money.
Here's the selling history of all generations of 4Runner: Toyota 4Runner For Sale - BaT Auctions
I'd also check out your local craigslist and a) see what people are asking and b) see how long the listings stay up. Here in the Bay Area, decent 3rd Gens sell in just a day or two.

Reason: e-locker detail

People have been reporting paying 5,6,7 thousand and more for 4runners recently. Very few of them sound as good as yours. I'd bet you could get a very high price from someone who wants rust free.
Lowish mileage, rust free, one owner - pretty rare these days!

Bringatrailer would be great if they accept your vehicle for auction. you can get much more then the current market value.

Thanks for the info everyone! I think what I am going to do now is to clean and detail the truck, and then test everything to make sure it works (or not) and then list it on that bringatrailer.com website. Likely that will be after the first of the year.
If I can get a decent price I'll sell, otherwise I'll keep it.
Reason for thinking about selling is that I just bought a 2017 Tacoma DCSB TRD Sport in Inferno Orange that I am really liking. And being semi-retired now I am not sure I really need 2 vehicles....

Thanks for that info...I will contact BaT and see what they say. I still want to detail it and check everything to make sure it works, or not, before listing it.

Did you guys see that 1996 that sold for $43,000??? That's about $10K more than when it was BOUGHT BRAND NEW. Absolutely nuts. 5k-Mile 1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5 for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $43,000 on May 15, 2020 (Lot #31,485) | Bring a Trailer
Sometimes I wonder what mine would sell for. But then I realize all the things I've done to it would probably scare away most buyers because it's so unique. I'd have to write my own FSM for someone other than myself to do repairs.
Anyway, yes if you clean it up and fix every issue (get those fog lights fixed and a new cup holder, those are cheap and easy to replace) you can get top dollar for yours due to the low mileage.
