Relocating 4X4 switch on Limited TCASE Shifter

Anyone know if its possible to move the 4WD switch that is on the Limited XFER case lever? I would like to put a custom knob, but the switch is presenting an issue. Is it a momentary switch like the OD Switch on the Trans?

I would Ideally move it up to the left side of the dash where the blank plates are. I plan to add an E Locker, so it would be cool to have all my 4x4 control switches right there...

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Both the OD and 4WD switches are detent switches or latching switches if you prefer. I have a limited multi mode with RR diff lock and actually like the 4wd switch where it is, no searching or scanning it's intuitively right there in my right hand conveniently placed so you can swiftly hit it or pull down to 4x4 as you slide into the ditch, I have to scan for the RRDIFFLOCK.

The PO of one of my 4runners can attest to not engaging 4wd while one tire is spinning after getting stuck after sliding into a ditch, pop goes the t-case, mind you his rear brakes where not set up properly to stop that one tire from spinning adding to the likelyhood of this senerio. I'm also unsure if the non multi mode tcase shifter would fit in the limited tcase shifter so you don't have a big hole in the shifter. Sounds like a lot of work to change a pretty good setup IMO.

i think on the 2001-2002, the OD switch is momentary.

The OD switch is definitely momentary on the Limited 2001 for sure. I had that apart the other day when I swapped on a new Auto Shifter.

Guess I will dig into it some more.

You can do anything. Just exchange the wires on to a regular switch that is not momentary. Like the rr diff lock, or any other that stays in.

Here is an original 4x4 switch that locks in place when you push it, that you can use to turn on AWD, and then if you have a center diff, you can lock into 4x4 either by pulling the lever back, or pressing the momentary switch on the dash, depending what year your Runner is.

Or what you can do is move all your 4x4 switches in one place with the 4x4 lever...
