Possible brake accumulator issue

2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5

Just today this screeching and squealing sound was coming from my firewall on the driver side. I can feel the vibration on the brake pedal. I popped the hood and when it screeches and squeals, the accumulator shakes and vibrates. How do you take this darn thing off the assembly? I’ve read in some areas that the culprit maybe the accumulator or the pump motor. Is there a fix for this instead of buying a whole assembly which cost 1G +. Please help. It’s the first time I’ve heard this and it scares the sh*t out of me. Lol. Thanks in advance guys.

Where's your fluid level ? Pic's hard to tell dirty at bottom clear at top or low ?

Pump will run till system pressure is built, low fluid can't happen.

Possible brake accumulator issue

Level is good and at the max line. I did a google on it and there’s a lot of places saying it’s the booster motor. These guys at 20+ years go bad. I just ordered one from eBay for about $400 new. Looks like I have to pull the whole unit out to get to it. Checked it out today and there’s four 12mm inside, 4 brake lines and 3 connectors holding this in place. Looks easy, but I still need guidance. Anyone have this issue? Squealing and screeching sounds. Thanks in advance

Let me tell you- I fought it for years and tried just about everything. Problem pretty went away in the summer heat for a couple seasons. Then I used to pump the brakes 20 times after parking and thought that helped for a while. Then I’d drive with the buzzer going off for 5 minutes till it quit. Eventually it just became unsafe and totally annoying and I bit the bullet and bought the entire assembly from the dealer and haven’t looked back. There are a ton of threads what the problem might be and potential fixes but nothing worked for me. Seems to be failure of design having the booster/ accumulator/ master cylinder together. Mine also is a 2001- wishing you best of luck.
