What fluid should I get for a W59 MT

I have the W59 manual transmission that only came on 4runners with the 3rz-fe engine. And I want to change the fluid since I don't know when it was last done.

I have seen on the Tacoma forums that it takes 2.6 quarts of 75W-90 oil, and that you should use GL4 over GL5 (Redline MT-90 seems to be a favorite).

Is this the same for the 4runner as well?

Yes, as an owner of a W59 I can confirm that Redline MT-90 is the ideal choice. Amsoil MTG is a very close second but harder to find. If you want a cheaper, potentially non-synth option you can find GL-4 75W-90s at NAPA but they are a bit esoteric.

Get 3 quarts and you'll have enough. Run a tube from the fill line out the side of the truck, put a funnel on the end, and pour away. Way easier than a goofy hand pump.
