Looks so much better without color
I had originally jammed my ashtray light in there since I took my ashtray out in lieu of an additional switch panel, but it never looked quite right to me. When I was ordering some stuff from Superbright I grabbed a few of those sockets b/c for $1, it's hard not to have them laying around. As it turns out, those sockets just happen to fit with oem precision in that spot.

Does anyone have a link for the VLEDs for the 74 cluster bulbs? No hot spots preferably. I have an '00. Thanks!

This is the page for the 74 bulbs from VLED. Just pick the color option you like.

2002 dash cluster swap

Howdy!

I hope I'm not committing a forum faux pas by resurrecting this thread. I just didn't want to start a new one when this thread was the basis for all of my own work. If I need to start a new one, please advise.

Thanks for all the excellent information here. I used it to perform an LED swap for the interior of my 2002 Runner. I used the method for testing polarity as instructed and ensured that my dash light bases were oriented correctly.

After completing the swap I noticed that my blinker dash indicators do not work and my P light in the dash doesn't work as expected. I've double checked the polarity and orientation of the base twice as well as fuse integrity.

This leaves me with a few questions.

1. In the dash cluster are there some lights that have an opposite polarity? Like the Park indicator or the blinker indicator?

2. There are some lights that seldom turn on. Namely:
VSC
Airbag
Check Engine
AT Oil Temp
RR Dif
ABS
Etcetera...

How can we be sure that the leds are working as intended for these lights? IS there a way to force illumination of these signals or should they all light up when the ignition is set to accessory power during pre-start?

Thanks!

Hi all- thanks so much for this (and the other) great threads- I popped a few LEDs in to replace OEM bulbs that went out, and it is looking GREAT!
