Traction Control beeping when turning
All,
A few months ago I did the upper and lower ball joints as well as one of the outer tie rods on my 3rd gen. I have had no issues until the last few weeks when I take highway exit loops over 20-30 mph, my traction control slip light flashes and I get the accompanying beeping until I slow down. Im not taking these turns any faster than I normally would, and I still have the OEM wheels and tires on my truck. All the other posts with this issue are guys with lifts and 33's, which is not my case.
My issue has gotten worse over the last week or so, with it beeping more and more frequently at me with lower turn radii and slower speeds.
Any suggestions? Wheel speed sensor maybe?
Thanks.

I am new to the 2001 2002 4runner traction control stuff. However from reading ive been doing there is a set of calibration things ( sensors) that need to get calibrated when doing a lift.
However you have not done a lift....but maybe the sensors are in need of calibration. Supposedly one detects lean and maybe that is what is tripping on exit ramps. I believe that calibration is something you can do yourself at no cost, so would be cheaper than replacing a sensor.
when I got mine a few weeks ago, the "slip" light came on one time, has not since....then is when I started reading up on the calibration stuff.

Try recalibrating it, even non-lifted it will need to be recalibrated over time due to wear and sag. Not sure if this is the correct method, maybe search T4R to compare calibration methods for clarification. If you read further into the thread there was a 2nd process some needed to perform for deceleration aswell as the yaw calibration, but sounds like a yaw issue.

I edited my response, as with all write ups and threads, read them through to the end, apparently there is a Yaw and deceleration calibration some need to perform, always good to compare to others write ups aswell.

Are you just on 2wd mode
OR
did you press that button where you're in AWD (4 green lights on your dash) OR
are you in 4WD mode (4 green lights with orange light in the center)
I get these issues as well every now and then but only in AWD or 4WD which leads me to believe it could be a faulty FRONT wheel sensor since 2wd is rear wheel drive.
I did the calibration thing but didn't really help. For reference purposes I believe I have a 2inch lift with bilsteins 5100s all around and OME 881/906 front/rear combo.

Yaw "AND" deceleration calibration need to be performed for Sys to work as new.
My new to me stock 01 198k mi, kissing rear bumps every now n then on city streets 2 or 4 x4 or AWD
would trigger VSC and or TRAC control, more often after 2.75" & 3.25" lift.
I did the Andy MOD 2.0 w/real TRAC Off Switch - Toyota 4Runner Forum - Largest 4Runner Forum for the benefits then the Cal's when I got around to it.
3 yrs later 2nd Suspension Dual lockers setup, mud snow ice wheeling I don't care if Sys gets out of Cal.
Edit: A bad/faulty wheel sensor will set a DTC code.

Well my solution was much more simple. I was about 10 psi too low in the front right tire. It wasn't noticeably deflated, but obviously a good look at it and I realized it was bulging out a bit on the bottom. I probably have a slow leak in the tire.
Just goes to show that you should always check the simplest stuff before posting on the forum and wind up looking like an idiot.
