Changed my oil yesterday and started it up to circulate the new oil and listen for any weird sounds as one does after an oil change. It's always had a rattling/ticking noise which went away when I put my hand on the power steering pump. I assumed maybe the pulley was going bad or something. Then I noticed that the top mounting bolt for the power steering pump looked loose. So I turned the truck off to check and the damn bolt was completely disengaged and just rattling around in the hole! It's probably been like that since I bought it in September because I noticed the noise the day I bought it. I'm not sure what divine power kept the bolt from drifting into the power steering pulley and grenading any number of things on the engine but man, that could have been bad.
one of the three bolts is difficult to get to.
Maybe it was your yota's way of saying, hey buddy...remove pump and clean screen ( and flush power steering)
