Have you guys seen this fully restored 2000 on eBay?
ebay.com/itm/333856857788 (may have to copy & paste)
It's been listed several times and gone to almost 40K and with RESERVE NOT MET.
ebay.com/itm/233829153240
It's sweet but do you see anyone paying over $40,000 for a 3rd Gen?

I think its this one
2000 Toyota 4Runner FULL RESTORATION | eBay
It was in a minor accident and repainted, new engine so might not be all collectors first choice. It's already at 20k+. 3rd'gens are becoming a collector vehicle slowly but surely.

Seen that before. What's funny about that price is you could buy two 3rd gens and have 20-25k left over to maintain and mod them... for the rest of your life! lol.
In other words, it's silly to pay that much for something that doesn't need that level of rebuild. A rebuilt engine isn't going to really last you any longer than one with 150k, all things equal. These just don't have that kind of problems.
But that said, I hope it does sell high, the better for us!

Wow, yeah, someone's trying to make a quick buck on this one, but someone will pay. There was a time when rust would be a no-no and yet there have now been 3rd gens on BaT that had rust that was "fixed" and sealed over and those commanded pretty high prices and no one cared. I guess as long as it's not eating through the frame, people will pay.
The other items mentioned make me feel it's a hack job... no love, just flip for profit.
I'd say someone will pay 15k for this. Actually, I hope it goes for more.. as it will benefit all of us.

The more you look at this truck the more you notice details that are off. In addition to what was mentioned already,
– The front bumper is also missing the filler panels for the fog lights.
- Skid plates removed
– Questionable suspension
– The driver side interior B-pillar trim looks like it is not fully attached
– Rear heater control appears to be missing the little knob for the temperature adjust slider.
In the walk around video you can also start to see other things like weather stripping that's all wrinkled and haphazardly attached.
Not that any of these things are deal breakers in their own sense but it always bums me out to see someone neglect to either notice or worse, disclose details. If a car on BaT is not top tier the ad should be.
oh right..my bet. $13500

After learning of some of the weirdness on this one, I'm a little surprised it went this high.
Sold For $15,750 On 1/19/21

I guessed a little high, but ~$16k isn't surprising, even with the flaws. If a citizen of the Rust Belt is the winning bidder, they may have not seen one this clean in years. And looking for a really clean Gen3 is getting very difficult anymore. They may have plans to clean up the flaws and make it really good. It isn't really a bad truck to start with.

Yep, that's right around where I thought it'd go for (said 15k). It's completely the trend I've been seeing in the past year... with their prices going up. Seems like folks are willing to pay for older, but more reliable technology that still looks decent. I'm going to say, in the next 5-10 years, don't be surprised if these are the next Broncos and Landcruisers.
EDIT: it's really funny though, with 207k miles, rusted undercarriage and rear axle, pretty much a base model, no lift kit, no moonroof. I mean, really, this was a 4k truck, with maybe 4k in upgrades (supercharger). So in the end, the seller probably made 7k off of this! Not bad for a quick turnaround product. Problem is, they're getting rarer and rarer to find in decent condition (which this was, minus the rust), so that helps elevate the cost. Makes me want to pick one up locally, modify it and see what happens, lol!

Makes me feel less bad about spending thousands to keep mine in good shape.
Maybe if I wait long enough ill be able to get 10-12k for mine. (After spending $20k fixing it up )

I was just thinking the same thing. So I don't mind investing in it. It's when you start putting repairs and upgrades on a car that will only see 20-50% returns on that, where it's frustrating.
I didn't ever think the 4runner would go UP in value when I bought my 00 ten years ago, so that's a pleasant surprise. I really intended just to mod and maintain it and drive it, didn't really care much about value. But now that it's worth a bit more (like double what I paid), I'm almost scared to drive it, lol.
