'rusty' like Oil Pan After cleaning

Hey all, I just pulled an oil pan from a scrap yard to swap oil pans as mine is leaky, and I was cleaning it up I hit the interior with some degreaser and some brake clean and after it dried there was a Red haze is parts of the pan.

Was it a mistake to hit the inside of the pan with brakeclean/degreaser or it is just some residual that will jsut wipe out? Should I avoid using this pan?

Happens quite often to me when I brake clean parts that are constantly exposed to oil. Not sure what it is that causes it, but it's completely fine to use that part.

Use and abrasive pad and knock off the light rust film and put oil on a rag and coat the bare metal with it to stop the rust.

Is the pan painted on the inside? I think so. Most brake clean says to keep it off painted surfaces.
