Seat belt locked up , how to release?

How can you get the seat belt retractor to release. It locked up and would only extend about halfway. I have unboltrd it but can't see how to free it.

Sitting in a truck stop in Norman where its 18 degrees, figure to go for while and warm things up, like my fingers

If it's just you then swap it out with the passenger belt.

Awesome, thank you. Two of us so couldn't swap sides. Not really sure why it locked up but was able to get to spool all the way out. May have been the cold, who knows.

Thank you again, always a great community here.

Now to continue on to Cabo ...

There's a little check ball in the seat belt that will cause it to not allow the seat belt to release, like in the case of an accident. Sometimes in rare situations these check balls won't realign and randomly will cause the seatbelt to lock up. I had one from a 99 that did that and I almost couldn't even use it anymore. I was able to knock the check ball back into place and all was good again. Sometimes a good jolt near the base of the pillar where the set belt retractor is located is all that's needed.
