King Rear Shock Guard/Armor?

So while I wait on my rear kings to arrive...and also wait to get my front setup finalized... I was looking to see if there were any products or mods that added protection for rear shocks. Specifically kings.

I see a ton of shit for 4th and 5th gens...but nothing for 3rd gens? Anyone ever tried any of the stuff out there to see if it fits?

Something like this:

Lastly, has anyone ever booted a king before? I kind of dislike how the shaft is just exposed.

Maybe an Icon 2.0 boot? Cut in the back if needed so as to fit, then a zip tie on top? If they are open on the back that would allow the crap out more easily which is a very good thing since trapped debris is more likely to damage the shaft in your climate than rocks, I guess.

These boots have been very effective in the AZ desert, which means they would be effective everywhere (for rocks).

Hard protectors that can be bent into the shaft by a rock are no-go.

The Fox plastic protectors on the 2.0 may be good but I don't see how they can fit a 2.5.

Plus, the Icon boots can be found at under 10$ each, so it is not much of an expense if the experiment fails.

I plan to do that with my next set of shocks when those arrive (I do have the Icon boots anyway so there is that).

Plenty of wheeling done with mine with no issue; picture was taken cause I had bent an arm so I replaced both.

Okay, so I found some more items...but I still cannot find any mention about 3rd gens. So who knows if they fit.

BPF 4runner 04-21 /FJ 07-14 Shock Guards

Shock Skids for King Shocks |

Also, here is a booted King from some guy on the forums.

I saw those recently. I'll have to email Toytec and see if they have any insight on it. Would really suck to drop 120 bucks for something that doesn't fit...

Mainly I worry about it not clearing the actual shock body which would definitely not be good during compression haha

Whoops, for some reason I typed icon, corrected to Toytec

FYI
The ICONS do not fit King shocks - at least not mine. Sent back and went with BPF.

The BPFs fit your 3rd Gen? Can you link the ones that fit, if so?

King Rear Shock Guard/Armor?

Doesn’t look like it will fit 3rd Gen. missed the beginning of this post looking for a 3rd Gen solution. My bad.

Dunno if this will work, but Ripcord used King Reinforced Plastic Shaft Guards in his Tacoma:

Post #9:
Ripcord's Spruce Mica Build | Tacoma World

He replaced the shock rod ends to make it work.
