Is a Camry Steering Wheel Compatible with a 4Runner?

As the title says. I noticed a while ago that a 1996-2002 Toyota Camry has a very similar steering wheel as the 4Runner. I was wondering if this wheel would fit my car no problem since it's very hard to find an Oak steering wheel in good condition. This could expand the search for a new wheel if it is compatible. Any answer would be great and appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah I believe 97 to 2002 camry are compatible. There is a thread on the forum that discussed the topic,

It will work but only with the camry airbag as well. I actually have a camry steering wheel that I was gonna swap but never had the chance to go back for the airbag. If you are interested let me know.
If not good luck on your search!!

I won't change it now but maybe I can hit the yard one day and get the full wheel off a Camry. That's a bummer the 4Runner Airbag wont work though.

Yes the early Sienna wheel is a direct swap utilizing the 4Runner airbag. I found a tan leather one for my limited. The Sienna doesn't appear to have the same longevity as the 4Runner so the steering wheels in the junkyard are normally in good shape plus they don't have stupid prices. I paid around $40 plus shipping on Chinabay, it also came with a remote control stalk for stereo (never wired it)

I just got a Sienna wheel this week! I have replacement leather coming for it (it is gray) - and it includes the steering wheel stereo controls. Those would have to be custom wired in, but it is doable with the right parts and time. I love having steering wheel controls in my other cars, so I might just do it.

Apparently the 4Runner clock spring doesn't have the correct number of wires to accommodate the Sienna stereo controller, which is why I never pursued it.

Yeah, it'll be a bit of a project... Along with modifying the button assembly internals for a more 'universal' interface, it won't be simple.
