I was going to go with Savage as well, but now I'll be going with a full set of skid plates from shrockworks. 3rd Gen 4Runner Skid Plates, 1996-2002

That's what I was thinking too but I've heard endless bad things about shrockworks and their skids.

Oh really? I haven't come across anything bad about them, but I haven't really looked either.

If you poke around you'll see a few reports like this. Granted most the problems are related to their transfer case and gas tank skids, they still come off as kinda shady to me and with the reports of them not fitting well with many aftermarket bumpers I have a feeling it wouldn't play nice with mine, given how close and snug it sits. Which is unfortunate because it would blend nice with the skid that's already on the bumper (True North Fab open wing)
Lots of people recommend Coastal too but they only offer them in a full set

@Devbot I'll throw 4XInnovation skids into the fray, too. I waited 8 weeks for mine last year, but they appear to be IN STOCK and on a bit of a sale now, too. Beware - they are HEAVY. You don't technically need a floor jack to install/remove, but if you leave the 2 sections bolted together, you pretty much need one. Made from thick US steel. There is an oil drain hole so they don't really need to come off unless working on lines for a cooler, etc.

Sucks about savage. I waited too long also. I recently started to consider coastal offroad's diy skids again. They look similar to savage & I like the wide coverage. I say recently because I'm pretty sure their instructions previously stated that you had to drill into the frame for installation but now their website says no drilling for install. If it is in fact a no drilling install then that's what I'm leaning towards. Savage nailed it with their design & making it multiple pieces to make removal easier for maintenance. I'm secretly hoping Roy passes the torch to someone that can restart production of his skids. They're too good not to.

My alternative choices were either:
Bud built: Front Skid Plate | 95-04 Tacoma | BudBuilt Off-Road and Overland

CBI: CBI Offroad Fab - Toyota 4Runner Front Skid Plate | 1995.5-2002 -

Love my 4xinovations skids.. the 1/4” front skid is def nice for the places I wheel at. Only bad thing is I had to buy the transfercase skid from RCI because there wasn’t an option from 4x.. Also don’t buy the LCA skids from RCI unless they changed their design.. Hits the frame bad near where the LCA cam bolts are.

TNF has 1/8 and 3/16 skid plates in stock that would tie in well with your TNF bumper.

Yeah I've seen them, not a big fan of how they look either. I'm looking for something that DOESNT have a big logo plastered over the front especially when I already have the same one on my bumper for all to see. That's what stopped me from buying the Savage skids in the beginning, really. Thanks for the heads up anyways
