Something on my control arms?

I was installing my VLED hyperflash resistors last night and noticed something on the control arms and axle boots. It is on both sides but I can't seem to find a source for it. It appears like it might be grease? Any guesses as to what this might be? It definitely wasn't there prior to the lift install and the new power steering rack.

That looks like the grease from a torn axle boot

I dunno, looks like of like queso to me. Get some tortilla chips and test it out.

Definitely grease getting back the CV boot via a bad seal or a crack in the boot.

That's from your axle shafts. It's common for that to happen after a lift with old axles. Your old axles were used to a certain working angle then you lifted your 4Runner and changed that angle and now the boots are leaking grease.

Welcome to the world of a lifted vehicle. Suspension and steering parts won't last as long now.

Any ballpark estimates on what I should expect to pay a shop? Looks like a fun job but I have literally no time to do mechanical work before May. It looks like the OEM axles are ~ $400 each from what I'm finding. The front diff seal needs replaced as well as the lower ball joints, so I'll just take it in and get everyone taken care of at once.

I got my OEM reman axles for about $185 a piece on the Toyota parts site. The seals are about $10 (which reminds me that I need to pick up mine, lol). The axles I removed I plan to rebuild when I get a minute... and some CVJ extended boots.

Also consider a diff drop if you don't have one already.

I've got the toytec diff drop on there now, but I guess it wasn't going to save my 22-year-old boots, lol.

I'm wondering if I'm going to have the whole front end apart to do the control arms and LBJ's plus diff seal and axles, if there is anything else that I should try to get done at the same time?
