Hood latch adjustment?

Anyone have some advice on hood or hood latch adjustment? I recently put on a sport hood with the hood scoop. My factory hood used to have a lot of trouble closing as well. I'd really have to slam it shut. Not just let it drop, but put some extra down force behind it.

Now that I've got a new hood and new grill in place I don't want to slam them. I did let it drop from pretty much full height and still can't get the thing to latch. The safety latch will hook but not the hood latch. I did play with the little rubber stops and adjusted them all of the way in so they were out of the way, didn't seem to be the issue. In fact the hood was setting too low at that point, but still wouldn't latch.

Maybe I just need a new latch all together? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The only adjustment for the latch is the 3 mounting bolts for the latch, loosen and adjust as needed. Ofcourse the hood can be adjusted aswell if needed at the same time.

Try cleaning the latch with brake cleaner and then lubing it up with a spray silicone or dry graphite. Then take a screwdriver and use that as the catch on the hood to work the latch as you lube it. That worked well for my latch and it's been fine since.

lubricating the mechanism and pusing the right side of the spring down has worked for some.

Start with lubing the latch and adjusting the the hood instead of the latch, if possible. The latch has the 'centering bolts' as shown in the above procedure. You might even be able to bend the latch loop a bit to line it up.

I didn't install a new hood, but I notice, it is vibrating when driving. I took the latch out and filed 3 holes vertically so I can move the latch up or down. Did the adjustment and was able to get the hood to stay firm.

There's a couple rubber bumpers on the top of the radiator support on either side that you can twist up or down to adjust how pressure is on the hood to keep it from vibrating.
